Celebrities Tim Gunn, Carson Kressley to Attend Blogging Conference

BlogHer ’09, scheduled for July 23 – 25 in Chicago, promises to satisfy bloggers of every skill level with conference sessions ranging from blogging basics to advanced geek labs and topics appropriate for mommy bloggers, single gals and everyone in between. Now in its fifth year, the sold-out conference will bring together the who's who with up-and-coming women bloggers in the blogosphere.
Informational sessions and fabulous parties are complemented with meetings on the expo floor. Some companies attending, such as Tide and Nikon, are bringing celebrities to drive booth attendance, provide blogging topics and assist in making BlogHer ’09 a fun and interactive conference. Following is a snapshot of celebrities scheduled to appear.
BlogHer ’09: Tim Gunn
The blogging community’s abuzz over the news Tim Gunn, the leading fashion authority, will be attending BlogHer ’09 thanks to the folks at Tide. Gunn, who stars in Project Runway and Tim Gunn’s Guide to Style, will be talking fashion and fabric care on Saturday, July 25, between 3 and 5 p.m. in the Tide & Bounce Laundry Lounge. A lucky blogger will win a private style consultation with Gunn as a result of a Tide-sponsored blogging contest that asked BlogHer attendees to post what they will be wearing during the conference.
BlogHer ’09: Carson Kressley
Bloggers looking for tips on how to look good in pictures, such as displaying a natural smile and minimizing the double chin, will find them with style guru Carson Kressley at the Nikon booth between 4 and 4:45 p.m. on Friday, July 24. Kressley who is most famous for Queer Eye for the Straight Guy and How to Look Good Naked, stars in Nikon’s online “Look Good in Pictures” series which offers practical photography advice in everyday situations.
BlogHer ’09: Chef Rick Bayless
Chicago restaurateur and Top Chef judge Chef Rick Bayless will make an appearance in The National Pork Board booth on Friday.
BlogHer ’09: Andrea Metcalf
Elations joint supplement drink will be bringing in nationally recognized fitness expert Andrea Metcalf. Her media credits include The Today Show and MORE, Women’s World and Self Shape magazines. Metcalf specializes in Boomer fitness and will offer joint health assessments and tips to improve overall health. Metcalf will be at the Elations booth Friday between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. and Saturday between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m.
BlogHer ’09: Luke O’Connor
Celebrity stylist Luke O’Connor will be taking a break from Lukaro Salon in Los Angeles, the style studio he and his wife Rona opened in 1992, to give BlogHer attendees real life hair care and styling tips at the Suave and Degree booth Friday and Saturday. O’Connor is the stylist for Debra Messing and other celebrities.
BlogHer ’09: The Michelin Man!
The most adorable celebrity scheduled to attend BlogHer has to be large and jolly, Bibendum, commonly referred as the Michelin Man, who will make an appearance each day at the Michelin booth. Not only is the company concerned about road safety and fuel efficiency, Michelin is committed to environmental sustainability and for BlogHer ’09 they offset 200 tons of carbon emissions.
Over the past 15 years, the company estimates they have reduced CO2 emissions by 25 million tons as a result of selling 570 million Michelin green energy saving tires across the globe. During this year’s conference they will assist attendees determine the best tires for them and will give away swag including Michelin HydroEdge tires. They’ve also created a Michelin BlogHer travel guide to Chicago.
BlogHer ‘09’s celebrity lineup and diverse brand representation are guaranteed to generate blogging chatter in the blogosphere.
