Paper books just aren't what they used to be, and the publishing industry is not a tower of strength these days. Can't write a book for publication? Try writing a blog.

In the wonderful world of the Internet, a cyber land of free blog and Web space, anyone can become a writer if they so wish. The publishing industry isn’t taking a whole lot of risks right now, and that puts many novelists in a bad position. Try self-publishing online, and try writing a blog...instead of just waiting around.

Book Writing, Blog Writing

Writing books and writing blogs doesn’t have to be two completely dissimilar things. Even Internet readers enjoy a piece of fiction, or lengthy non-fiction, every now and again. Think of each blog entry simply as a short chapter, delivering new material every day or every few days to a potentially growing audience. With organization and interesting words, any blog can become a big hit. One thing is certain: writing a blog is a lot easier than sitting around waiting for a great publishing deal.

Self-Publishing by Blogging

There probably isn’t an easier way to self-publish than blogging. Many Web sites offer blog space free of charge, allowing users to do pretty much whatever they please with their own pages. It’s possible to moderate comments, organize posts, even back-date entries, and it's always okay to go back and re-edit. Pictures, videos and other media can added to spice up the visual element of any blog post. Here’s the best part of all: blogs can be written on any topic whatsoever.

Got a great epic novel? A fantastic short story collection? If traditional publishing isn’t working, it’s possible that self-publishing through blogging will. Blogging can be a useful tool for writers at all levels of experience and esteem. These pages provide an easy, daily outlet for writers who want to remain active or those who want to work on their skills.

Writing a Book Online

Self-publishing by blogging, and offering up a book online, certainly isn’t the “traditional” method. But as more and more people are turning to the Internet, reading traditions are changing. Through advertising agreements, it’s possible for anyone and everyone to earn money even using a free blog. Publishers may not be clamoring to provide a huge book advance, but taking this online self-publishing route could turn out to be lucrative just the same. Blogging a book can provide exposure, extra income…and it can even bring in attention from those in the industry who have the pull to make a difference to any writer.

Can’t write a book? Try writing a blog…because everyone’s got to start somewhere.
